Counter Space79 viewsN found another shelf, cut it down to size and attached it with chains to the underside of the cabinets. Below the counter are two drawers (kitchen utensils on left and flatware on right) and two cabinets (mixing bowls, tupperware, etc.). Above the counter are three cabinets, where we keep all our dry goods.

starting to grow it out160 viewsThis was taken at my wedding, a year after the previous photo. I had decided that my hair grew too fast for a short cut and I was beginning to get lazy. July 2004

Microwave stand and whiteboard56 viewsAtop the microwave stand is the toaster oven. We have found that, between the toaster, the toaster oven and the microwave, we can only have one of the three going at any one time, or we throw a fuse. The fuse box is inconveniently located in the basement, in someone else's apartment. Our whiteboard is where we make our weekly grocery lists and the cork board is where the random coupons go. Large cutting boards and cookie sheets get stacked between the wall and the toaster oven.Jun 13, 2007

Bookcase, etc.55 viewsCookbooks on the top shelf and health books on the bottom. Toaster, blender, and hand-held blender on top of the bookcase, with microwave stand on the left. The microwave stand is where we store our placemats, cloth napkins, dish towels, and wash rags (in the drawer), and our extra saucepans and animal treats (in the cabinet below).Jun 13, 2007

Windows, plants and trash!57 viewsOur two western-facing windows. They bring in a lot of light in the winter -- there's a maple tree out front that mostly obscures the sun in the summer. Below the dishtowel is our 3-compartment trashcan: one area for trash, 2 for recycling. We produce an amazingly small amount of trash for 3 adults.Jun 13, 2007

Above the sink & stove60 viewsTo the left of the sink is our gas stove. It's certainly not a full size stove, but it's not the super tiny size, either. We can comfortably have all four burners (with pots) going at the same time. To the left of the stove is the radiator that neither turns off nor adjusts -- makes for suuuuuper warm kitchen in winter. Above the stove and radiator, N installed a shelf for our three most-used pieces of cookware. Above all the upper cabinets is more storage space, which is cluttered and needs tending to.Jun 13, 2007

Sink Area64 viewsTo the left of the counter is our sink and dish drainer. Above the sink are two cabinets, where our dishes go (3 households' worth!). Below the sink is where the compost bin is and the cleaning products.Jun 13, 2007

Fridge + above91 viewsN has done an amazing job of creating space where there was none before, as with the found shelf he cut down to size and attached between the cupboard and the wall, and making effective use of existing space, as with placing an old inverted drawing table attachment from the Ivar series (Ikea) on top of the fridge.Jun 13, 2007
